What You’ll Need to Make Giant Teddy Bear Cookies
To bring these jumbo cuties to life, you’ll just need a few simple ingredients and a little creativity! From ready-made cookie dough to sprinkles and chocolate chips, here’s everything that goes into building your very own delicious teddy bear masterpiece.
Ingredients
- Frozen double chocolate chip cookie dough (about 10–11 oz)
- White shortbread cookie dough (about 2 oz)
- White candy melts + mini chocolate chips, or large candy eyes
- Melted dark chocolate (I used chocolate chips) or edible marker for extra details
- ⅓ cup heat-safe sprinkles (I love a mix of shapes and sizes like this one!)
Other Things You Will Need
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Knife (for cutting dough disks)
- Spoon or piping bag (for melted chocolate details)
- Spatula (for lifting and transferring cookies)
- Air Fryer or oven
- Optional: clear gift box with marshmallows or tissue paper if gifting
How to Make Giant Teddy Bear Cookies!
Step 1: Shape That Cuddly Bear Face
Begin by removing the chocolate cookie dough from the fridge and letting it soften slightly so it’s easier to work with. Next, slice the dough into disks and put one to the side for the ears. Press the rest of the discs together and shape them one large circle, about 7 inches wide and around ½ inch thick – for the bear’s head.

Next, pour your colorful sprinkles onto a plate and gently press the cookie head in them. Press firmly to make sure the sprinkles cover the top and sides evenly. Once coated, place the base onto a parchment-lined plate or tray.
Now, using the disc you set aside, shape the ears, roll them in the sprinkles as well, and then attach them to the top of the head.
Step 2: Add Ears and Muzzle
Using the white shortbread dough, shape two small ovals for the trim part of the ears and one larger oval for the snout area. Gently press the white part of the ears on top of the brown part and then add the snout toward the lower middle of the face. These pieces will hold their shape while baking, giving your bear that signature cuddly look.

Step 3: Let’s Get Cookin‘
Now it’s time to bake! Carefully lift the parchment paper and transfer the entire giant teddy bear cookie to your air fryer basket. Cook at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned and set.
If you’re using a conventional oven, you can bake it on the center rack using the same temperature. Let the cookie almost cool completely before moving on to decorating.

Step 4: Decorate Your Bear
Now it’s time to bring your giant teddy bear cookie to life! Once finished, gently transfer the bear to a flat surface to decorate. While the cookie is still just a little warm, go ahead and add the eyes. I used two white candy melts with mini chocolate chips pressed on for the pupils, super simple and super cute.
The heat from the cookie helped the white chocolate melt to the cookie a bit, and then I used a tiny dab of melted chocolate as glue for the pupils. You could also use large candy eyes if you’ve got them on hand. Either option totally works!
For the nose, I piped a circle of melted chocolate, but chocolate cookie icing or even a candy dot would work great too. To finish the face, I used a bit more melted chocolate to draw on the mouth and nose line. An edible marker will work, too! However you decorate, this sweet bear’s gonna be a crowd favorite!
Optional: place on top of a bed of mini marshmallows if you’re gifting them. Instant “aww!”

Just Look at That Face! 😍🐻 How can you not smile at this big ol’ teddy cookie? With its sprinkle-studded “fur,” marshmallow bed, and that sweet little chocolate nose, this bear is the life of the snack table.
Variations and Substitutions
You can totally make this bear your own! If you don’t have candy melts, melted white chocolate, marshmallow slices, or even round dabs of white frosting can work for the eyes. No mini chocolate chips? Use a black pearl sprinkle, a dab of melted chocolate, or even a dot of black food gel for the pupils.
For the nose and smiley face details, melted chocolate chips are my go-to, but you can also use chocolate frosting, cookie icing, or an edible food marker. Want a softer look? Swap in white frosting for a pastel bear vibe, or go bold with bright colored icing to match your sprinkle mix. There’s really no wrong way to make a bear this sweet!
Want to switch things up? Try swapping the white dough with peanut butter or sugar cookie dough for a fun twist on the snout and ears!
